[ closed ] ARC 2020 Spain to Saint Lucia ref 12203

Marc YREUX wants 2 crew for ARRAYAN 2, One-off VATON 78' (Ex Maxi IOR), 24m.

From Las Palmas, Spain to Rodney bay, Saint Lucia.

January 2020 to January 2020.

Arrayan 2 is a powerful cruiser from 1984 that went through limited modifications to allow for shorthanded sailing. The main modifications include replacing two of the original "coffee grinder" winches with electric winches, a fully battened mainsail, and a Genoa on a furling roller. I have owned her for 27 years and have always maintained her to the highest standards. We participated in the 2014 ARC event and were happy to obtain line honor in ARC Cruising Division. The crew is primarily composed of family members (my wife and myself, my 31 year old son, and his father in law). Though we do enjoy the excellent sailing performance of Arrayan 2, our primary objective is to have a good time at sea in a fast but comfortable cruising environment. I invite you to take a look at our blog for some photos of the boat, and a bit more insight on our typical cruising environment. https://syarrayan2.blogspot.com

Marc is currently based in Vannes, France

Crew roles: Crew roles: While she is generally easy to handle, Arrayan 2 remains a powerful boat where small mistakes can have serious consequences. With a mainsail of 130 m2, genoa of 170 m2 and spinnaker of over 400 m2, it is essential to always be mindful of the large forces at play in the sheets, rig, hydraulic components, etc. In light of this, I'm seeking someone with previous experience at open sea. Showing respect for fellow crewmembers and for the boat is essential. I'm not particularly interested in racing experience, but rather looking for crew-members with good seamanship, who are always deliberate in their actions and consistently put safety above all else. The program is as follows: Summer 2020 (somewhere between June and August) : A few days cruising around Brittany and south-west UK in order to get to know each others. September 2020 : All crew to sail from Lorient-France- to Canary Islands. Arrayan will be left at marina. Nov.Dec 2020 : ARC 2020. All boat expenses are mine. Crew-members are responsible for their own travel arrangements to and from the boat. Food and drinks are equally shared. All current crew-members speak French, English and Spanish.

Money: daily contribution from crew $45

Travel to and from boat: crew pays
