[ Full ] ARC+ – 2014; Canary Islands to St. Lucia, Caribbean Canary Islands to Saint Lucia ref 3126
Bill Alexander wants 2 crew for Bonnie Lass, Catalina Morgan 440, 14m.
From Gran Canaria, Canary Islands to Rodney Bay, Saint Lucia.
November 2014 to December 2014.
This boat will be sailing in the 2014 ARC+ rally along with about 60 other boats. I just completed the ARC Europe rally from the BVI to Portugal in June and the experience was great. As Captain and Owner of the boat, I have utmost concerned for crew safety, and also believe there should be a good balance of fun and adventure along the way. I also believe security is a job for everyone aboard. The crew must be a harmonious team to make a successful ocean crossing. After all, we will be spending a month or so together in a confined space. The crew should all be well familiar with the strengths and weaknesses of the others. Everyone does not have to be a super-sailor as long as the combined skills and personalities are complimentary. Staying on as crew beyond St. Lucia is also a possibility as I plan to cruise the Caribbean extensively in 2015 before heading back to San Blas, Panama for a South Pacific trip.
What roles/experience are needed (Crew 1): Watch-leader
What roles/experience are needed (Crew 2): Watch-leader
Sailing with a Rally: ARC – Atlantic Rally for Cruisers
I'm looking for (gender): either
Cabins/Sleeping : shared cabin-own bunk
Smoking on board: non-smokers only
Total people on board: 3
Crew roles: There is no preference for male or female crew. Both have worked very well aboard this boat. Because of the configuration of the boat, there are only two enclosed cabins. I will take on and the other could be shared by a couple. Otherwise, a third crew bunks in a public area in the salon of the boat. There are no "passengers" aboard on this trip. All crew are here to do their part. Of course the main job is watch-keeping, sail trimming and navigating with a full complement of electronics. The boat is outfitted for offshore navigation and needs little attention under normal circumstances. However, when the weather is rough or there is attention needed in a critical situation, the crew must be ready to do their part to help. As for expenses, I pay the boat expenses, fuel, maintenance, etc. crew will pay their own individual fees, a portion of the food and all their own expenses when not on board the boat (stopping at various islands for exploring, etc.). I like to eat well while on board, so chips and crackers will not do most days. The galley is well outfitted and we should take advantage of that and eat healthy.
Money: expenses shared equally
Travel to and from boat: crew pays
