[ Full ] Annapolis or Virginia to Nova Scotia United States to Canada ref 6566

Tim Fitzmaurice wants 1 crew for Caregg, Hylas 46, 14m.

From Hampton, Virginia or Annapolis, MD, United States to Halifax, Canada.

June 2016 to June 2016.

The vessel has been stored in Annapolis over the winter while undergoing some upgrades. Starting the 30th of May I’ll be loading the boat and testing the systems along with my long time crew member Eric. Eric will be the other crew member on the trip. If everything goes well, and if the weather cooperates, we are hoping to get to Hampton, Virginia (or Norfolk) area by June 6. In Hampton we will refuel and provision before taking off for Nova Scotia. Depending on the weather (we will be getting updates and advise from Commander’s Weather) we will try to make a straight run to Halifax, or maybe Shelburne harbors. If we have to motor during the first few days we will most likely stop at Block Island to refuel, then head through the Cape Cod Canal. If the weather is bad we will find the nearest harbor on the way to wait it out. I'll load the boat up with food, but transportation, dinners out, drinks out, etc. is on the crew. Any special food desired is also on the crew. Crew must have their valid Passport, own health insurance, foul weather gear, etc. I have Mustang 3184 inflatable life jackets with AIS transponders, leg straps, and double tethers. The vessel has radar, AIS, 802 SSB, GPIRB, Iridium Sat Phone, Viking Rescue Life Raft, and other safety equipment. I’m looking for someone that is easy to get along who is willing to help with all tasks and takes an active interest in learning about off shore sailing. I would be helpful to find someone who has sailed on the east coast of Nova Scotia and knows some of the harbors.

What roles/experience are needed (Crew 1): does not matter

Sailing with a Rally: Independent

I'm looking for (gender): either

Cabins/Sleeping : shared cabin-own bunk

Smoking on board: non-smokers only

Total people on board: 3

Crew roles: Crew will be expected to help with all of the things necessary to run the boat, including a regular watch rotation. I will be doing most of the navigation but help will be appreciated. In addition to having some of needed charts, and various cruising guides, we use the Raymarine MFD charting program and Nobletec TimesZero Odyssey. The boat should not need much terms of maintenance but it will need washing and cleaning on a regular basis. Cooking can be shared unless the crew is a great cook then I'd be happy to turn over the job.

Money: captain pays all expenses

Travel to and from boat: crew pays
