DescriptionShe’s beautiful. She’s solid. She’s big. She’s spacious. She’s super comfortable. She’s got soul. She lasts. Sailing ship Twister is a schooner built in 1902, with an impressive story to tell. Originally a fishing boat built out of wood, fifty-five years later, her wooden hull was replaced for a steel one so she could continue to fish. After 17 years in various ports, Twister was again rebuilt into the modern schooner that she now is. After the baptism in May 1999, under the name Twister, her speed since then proves the ship to be one of the fastest sailing ships of the Northern Europe sailing area. Renovated again in 2012, she was updated with all new safety features/equipment and all the modern comforts you could possibly want from a charter vessel. She sails under the highly regarded Dutch flag and complies with all related safety certificates. Her current owners are driven to sail her far, and with purpose. The aim is to facilitate memorable expeditions that people will treasure for life, and contribute towards a better planet. Last season she sailed around the Atlantic and proved her strength once again. This year she’ll sail the Atlantic from North to South from the Netherlands to the Canary Islands, with Ocean Nomads on Expedition ON | Atlantic & Macaronesia. She has all the safety gear and professional crew will also join to comply with Dutch regulations. She\\\\\\\'s approved with all latest ocean necessities under Dutch law. What you\\\\\\\'d need to bring is a good weather proof wear. The ship does have an awesome steering hut where we can shelter if it\\\\\\\'s cold or wet :) Join us in October to meet her for yourself. |
Additional detailsEXPEDITION ON | EXPERIENCE - LIFESTYLE - TRAVEL - PURPOSE - CONNECTION - NATURE We have 2 expeditions planned: Netherlands - Madeira Maderia - Canary Islands Autumn 2021 we are sailing from the Netherlands to Madeira and from Madeira to the Canary Islands onboard Twister, a classic 36-meter schooner originally built-in 1902. A hands-on 1800 nautical miles voyage for life, together with a likeminded bunch of Ocean Nomads. We are a mix of entrepreneurs, alternative lifestyle seekers, self sufficiency enthusiasts, and water sports fanatics. Driven by passion and purpose for the love of the ocean, we explore the exciting and natural ways to travel oceans and create regenerative lifestyles. We’ve tested Twisters sea worthiness, met the lovely owners, skipper, and mate, and experienced the performance and potential of this vessel. She’s beautiful. She’s fast. She’s solid. She’s big. This is not just an expedition you join for a few weeks and that\\\\\\\'s it. This is an experience that will change the way you approach life, nature and the ocean. By jumping on board this voyage, you will also join our expanding global network of impact-driven travellers, ocean entrepreneurs, sailors, (free)divers, surfers, and active salty souls passionate about the ocean and eager to do good. It\\\\\\\'s the people who make the trip and we walk the extra mile to get a diverse but like-minded adventure spirited bunch together. Estimated sea time +/- two weeks. Depending on the weather, we\\\\\\\'d love to make a stop somewhere for some extra exploration. It\\\\\\\'s a hands-on trip and everyone is expected to join al duties on board. It\\\\\\\'s ok to not have sailing experience. We also take professional crew and we\\\\\\\'ll be teaching it all. Depending the world situation we may sail across the Atlantic too. At any case, we can\\\\\\\'t wait for some serious sea time and we start with the sail from the Netherlands to the Canaries to just be connected to nothing but nature and an epic bunch of adventure seekers, lifestyle designers, ocean entrepreneurs, and eco-minded salty souls. Please note that to be able to do the trip a contribution is required. It\\\\\\\'s not cheap but it\\\\\\\'s really cheap for what you get and compared to anything similar out there. We just want to make it happen :) But we have no rich owner owning the boat here ;) Please read the description as well as our profile carefully to explore if it\\\\\\\'s for you.
