DescriptionComfortable ultra-safe cruiser (with watertight sealable bulkheads) often averaging 7 – 9 knots. Loads of safety equipment, nice galley, watermaker, etc. Solar, wind and water power (Watt&Sea) in addition to generator. Beautifully maintained and built for long distance bluewater cruising. All boat costs (marinas, fuel, spares) are covered. You pay travel costs to/from the boat and any or expenses you have on shore (restaurants, tours, etc.). We're thinking of sharing on-board food costs (max 10 euro/day) but this is negotiable. We'd definitely cover food costs on short leg trips. (You pay for any "special" extra foods you like, though.) All aspects of sailing the boat, cooking, washing up, watch duties are shared. You will likely be doing 1 to 2 hours of cleaning, maintenance or boatfixing per day and pitch in to help, as needed Tell us about your sailing background, longest amount of time spent offshore, availability & (non-sailing) interests. |
Additional detailsGalapagos to Marquesas. Looking for one volunteer crew to join us (Dutch / American couple) on this 3000-ish mile adventure. We’re likely to depart Galapagos in late May 2013. (Timing of Galapagos departure is approximate.) We may also have an opening for 1 crew on two earlier legs: Martinique to Bonaire (early April?) and from Bonaire/Curacao to Panama. Probably late April. We’re looking for someone with sailing experience (prefer bluewater), intelligent, flexible, emotionally stable, non-smoker, no addictions, alcohol issues. Ready for a month+ of bluewater sailing, no land in sight. Comfortable sailing with & following instructions from female sailor/first mate. You need to be adventurous & with enough experience of being at sea to know that you don't get seasick. Comfortable standing night watch on your own. Familiarity with electronic navigation systems is useful. We want you to have a fantastic bluewater experience and to be competent enough to be able to do your share of the day/night watches, navigation and boat chores. Come with 3 simple boat dinners that you can easily cook on-board while underway because we'll be sharing galley duties and it's lovely to eat as well as we can. Please note that this is a no smoking boat and little to no alcohol will be consumed while underway. If you have issues with drinking, or always need several drinks each day, this is not the boat for you. |
