Description

R/V “ROBERT GRAY” is a working historic research vessel operating as both a platform for scientific initiative and a proving ground for capable sailors. Docked seasonally along the Eastern Seaboard and underway for offshore passages, she is not a charter yacht but a vessel with mission, discipline, and intention. Through The Voyagers Club / VC Expeditions, we invite committed mariners to come aboard not as passengers, but as contributing crew. Members join expeditions to earn meaningful sea time, stand proper watches, assist in vessel operations, and participate in real-world maritime logistics under the direction of a licensed captain. This is for sailors who want miles, responsibility, and the experience of operating a historic vessel with purpose — not a leisure cruise. Positions are structured as expedition memberships that directly support the vessel’s scientific and educational initiatives. If you are seeking offshore passages, structured watch rotations, traditional seamanship, and a crew culture rooted in professionalism and endurance, we welcome your inquiry.
