|
DescriptionAm the owner and skipper of Poli Poli, purchased new from UK yard in 2010. Poli Poli is a Southerly ( now built by Discovery Yachts in Southampton )... Southerly are a well known British design ... best known for the design of the lifting keel. Although Poli Poli is the 38 model she is actually 40 feet or just over 12m in length... with the said lifting keel, self tacking jib, twin helm and twin rudders, in mast furling main sheet and fractional rig. She is able to dry out upright on beaches or firm sea bed. With a beam of 4 m, she is voluminous down below with a large saloon, galley, traditional chart table, fore and aft cabins, and two heads ( electric vacuum loos ). the saloon is amazingly light and airy. The swing or lifting keel ... at a touch of a button the one ton cast iron keel can be raised from 2.6m to 0.6m ie a flat bottomed boat!! And that feature alone can get you out of a lot of trouble!!! |
