Additional detailsAs the son of an oceanography scientist, my connection to the ocean has been an unconditional part of my life since childhood. In 1994, while studying chemistry at the University of Madeira, I began competing in the "Europe" class, representing the Clube Naval do Funchal. It wasn't until 2014 that I embarked on my first transatlantic journey as a competent crew member, sailing from Funchal to Puerto Rico aboard a Jeanneau Sun Fast 55 named "Christianne." In 2016, I co-founded Born 2 Sail, a sailing academy that provides instruction for sailors of all ages and also offers vessel delivery services. In 2018, I organized a fleet crossing from the Netherlands to Portugal, passing through numerous harbours including Lawersoog, Harlingen, Amsterdam Central, Almuejdem, Stellendam, Den Hag, Scheveningen, Dunkerque, Calais, Fecamp, Lehavre, Dieppe, Ouistram, Cherbourg, Jersey, Paimpol, Roscoff, L'aberwrac'h, Finisterra. La Coruña, Porto and Lisbon. In 2019, I taught sailing during the Tuttinbarca summer sailing camp for kids and teenagers in the Balearic archipelago. I also participated in the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers ARC 2021, crossing the Atlantic Ocean from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to Saint Lucia aboard the yacht Tilda. In 2022, I organized and commanded an adventure sailing charter from Trieste to Lisbon, passing through Lignano Sabbiadoro, Albarela, Ancona, Bari, Brindisi, Regio de Calabri Messina,Palermo, Cagliari, Palma de Maiorca, Calpe, Almeria, Gibraltar, Vila Real de Santo António and Lagos. I hold a Yachtmaster Offshore license, advanced PADI scuba diver certification, ICOpro Canyoneer 1-2-3, and first aid Red Cross certification. As the owner of a Jeanneau Sun Legend 41 named "Lili Marleen," I manage the Salty Planet sail yacht company. I currently work as a skipper delivering sailing boats throughout Europe, collaborate with offshore sailing company Noland, and also provide engineering consulting services. |
