Description

Hinewai? Well, she's a 45ft steel ketch, built in New Zealand back in the mid 80's. A pukka sea boat, her first owner did some 50,000 miles round the Pacific in her, we bought her some 13 years ago, spent 5 years refitting her from stem to stern, have done around 25,000 miles in her now. She's ketch rigged so the sails aren't too big to handle easily, cutter rigged with removable forestay, twin poles, 75hp Volvo donk, 500lts bunkerage, Raymarine Nav gear, HF and VHF radios, 500ltrs of water and water maker, liferaft, all the safety gear (in date), dinghy and outboard etc etc. Down below there's a stern cabin (mine), good galley, a workshop (aka my shed), big saloon with pilot berth, heads/shower, fridge, and a forepeak with a V-berth. She's set up for shorthanded sailing, I can quite happily handle her solo (the last 10 feet coming into a pen has had its moments), although sailing with another person is far better.
