DescriptionChallenger was originally 'America's Challenge' built for the 1997 Whitbread Round the World Yacht Race. She is full Kevlar construction weighing just 13,000kg with a sail area of 4000sqft. She is capable of 25-30 kts and the fastest of her class has hit over 450Nm in a day. She is in excellent condition, is professionally maintained and is just back from a successful Caribbean regatta season where she took 3rd in class in both the Heineken and Antigua Sailing Week Regattas. |
Additional detailsChallenger is a Spartan race boat in more ways then one. Below decks her accommodations are very basic although no more or less than any round the world race crew would expect for their nine month voyages. She is equipped with the latest safety equipment, has three water tight compartments, is of near unsinkable foam-cored hull construction and is built to ABS standards for commercial craft. She has a 90ft mast, 13ft draft and has 5000kg water ballast available to maximize her speed potential in heavier airs. |
