I have been sailing small boats since I was young and started sailing 30 to 40 foot boats in the last few years. I have chartered boats and would like to get some coastal or offshore experience. I'm a pilot so I have been honing weather prediction skills for decades, though I'm still leaning. I am recently retired and I plan to buy a blue water vessel in the next year. I am a good cook and don’t mind sharing in cleaning, maintenance and necessary tasks. I am adept at carpentry, plumbing, electrical and more recently some advanced engine work. I’d say I’m a jack of all trades, master of none. I’m easy going, a good conversationalist and have and great sense of humor. I’m not prone to seasickness though only really tested on rough afternoon passages. Sailing Resume - Just under 7000 NM Sailing Education Annapolis Sailing School, Annapolis MD. It was a kit boat, the winning design in a contest held by the London Daily Mirror newspaper. It was gaff rigged and had a jib. I accumulated hundreds of hours sailing the boat on Thompsons Lake, a small like in upstate New York. In later years, I sailed it on Lake Erie and off the coast of Maine. When I went to the University of Wisconsin at Madison, I joined the Hoofers Sailing Club. There I sailed easily 250 to 300 hours in Tech dinghies. During the summers, there were Friday night regattas with dozens of Tech dinghies sailing. This is where I really learned the points of sail. While in the Hoofers Sailing Club, I also sailed the 18 foot Interlake, the 15 foot 470 and occasionally the 16 foot M-16 scow. Back in New York on Thompsons Lake I spent 12 summers sailing a 13 Chrysler and 9 summers sailing a Catalina 14.2 For seven years, I also owned a 17 1/2 foot Four Winns inboard/outboard. I spent about 140 hours driving the boat and towing riders. I got a lot of experience docking, launching and picking up a mooring ball in varied waves and wind conditions. In May 2016 I went to the Annapolis Sailing School and tested out of the ASA 101 on a Rainbow 24 and then completed the ASA 103 on a Beneteau 37. In August 2016 I rented a Freedom 21 in Stonington, ME and sailed around the Stonington Archipelago for an afternoon. In May 2017 I went back to Annapolis sailing school and completed the ASA 104 on the Beneteau 37
