I have been sailing since I was a kid. I started in dinghies, chartered in the med, the BVIs, the Whitsundays. I bought my first yacht, a classic wooden cutter, with my brother Carl and sailed on her til 2014, when we sold her and I upgraded in 2015 to a larger blue water Taswell 49, Carinya (Apparently it is aboriginal for "happy home"). I am semi retired and have spent the last 2 years sailing the summers in my boat Carinya. We took her from Portsmouth (her UK home port) to the Scillies and then to Galicia in 2018 leaving her in Vigo for the winter. From there we took her down the Portuguese coast to the Med where we sailed east across the Southern coasts of Spain, the Balearics, Sardinia and Sicily Where we stopped last Autumn. After Sicily I brought Carinya back to the UK and prepped for the ARC+2022 which I completed (12 days from Cape Verde). Have completed 1 season in the Caribbean and am preparing for the 2023/4. | |
