Looking to crew preferably on a sailboat and in tidal waters to gain some miles and experience. For the tail end of 2023, I'd be interested in something short, 3-4 days in US or Caribbean. Once we're into 2024, I could do longer stretches, up to ~2 weeks and potentially travel a little more outside my time zone, EST / UTC-05:00. I'm in decent shape, easy going, handy, can handle all aspects of boat life: cook, clean, watch, navigate and skipper. My goal is to attain Yachtmaster Offshore certification, but I could use some more tidal water experience before I go for the practical checkout. Sailing credentials include: RYA Coast Skipper/Yachtmaster Offshore shore-based training (completed spring 2023) Marine Radio Operators certificate >5,000 nm skipper on my own CS-34 sailboat on Lake Huron, day sailing and cruising (mostly solo) >1,300 nm ocean passage/delivery of a Beneteau 434 from St. Martin to Georgia (part of a crew of 3) >10 years as crew in weekly club races out of Kincardine (seasonal) Crew on a 43 foot charter race boat during Antigua Race Week 2017 (50th anniversary) Basic first aid training (certification is not current, but will be soon) | |
