I've been on the water all my life, and brought up sailing dinghies and on the family yacht. Since then, i have owned sailboats, powerboats and RIBS, and I spend as much time on the water as possible. I'm not into serious racing - i tried it once and I spilt my cup of tea! I go sailing to relax not get stressed out. I've never done any serious ocean sailing - I have done plenty of Channel crossings, and a delivery trip from the Red Sea to Sicily a few years ago, two-handed on a 54 foot yacht which I loved. I am a competent coastal and offshore skipper, but not ocean standard by any means. The ARC has always been on my bucket list - I have no wish to skipper my own boat or anyone else's for the first crossing of the pond, but would love to crew on a boat for the experience. I hold the IYT Master of Yachts (200) certificate which has now lapsed through lack of recent miles. I have gone through the STCW95 course twice, but that has now lapsed I have a current VHF Certificate I can cook a bit, and enjoy fishing so hoping to catch a few on the way across to supplement the crew diet! Available for training/shakedown trips this year, and for the ARC in Dec 24 | |
