I am 67, and have been sailing off and on for about 12 years. I love the freedom of being at sea and going to sea, and have always loved messing about on boats. I bought my first yacht in late 2016, a Bavaria 37, and sailed her down to where I live in the Canary Islands in the summer of 2017. So I have plenty of coastal and offshore experience and have completed the RYA training up to Yachtmaster Offshore level. I am married to a lovely Russian lady who is a beginner at sailing, but a very good learner. Starting in the late spring of this year, we plan to move out of our house and go cruising on our boat for at least a couple of years, or as long as the fancy takes us. We are signed up for ARC 2019, but will be doing lots of sailing before that starts. We are non-smokers, but I also enjoy a social drink and stimulating conversation. However, I am also happy with my own company. My wife is a tee-totaller and a vegetarian. | |
