Peter Dunham wants 2 crew for La bohème, Lagoon 400S2, 11.95m.
From Las Palmas, Canary Islands to Blue Lagoon, Saint Vincent & the Grenadines.
November 2018 to December 2018.
Our transatlantic crossing is primarily about everyone enjoying the passage. Safety and comfort come first, with speed a distant third; we would rather get there a few days later with fantastic memories than move a few places up the leaderboard but arrive unhappy & exhausted with a lot of broken equipment. At night, we always reef the main and only use white sails, as the light wind sails require more than one person to fly or douse. We also always wear life jackets at night and are tethered on any time we leave the cockpit. This will be a dry passage (no alcohol); we are not teetotal but do believe that in the interests of safety all crew need to be able to make a meaningful contribution in the unlikely event of an emergency. Once we arrive in St Vincent the first drinks will be on us! Decision making will draw on the experience of all crew but ultimately the skipper makes the final decision. As well as considerable skipper experience, Peter ran a successful international business before retiring which gave him a great deal of experience working with teams as well as decision making.
