[ Cancelled ] Mauritius to Cape Town – Amel 53 Mauritius to South Africa ref 9395
Colin Streeter wants 1 crew for Island Pearl II, Amel Super Maramu 2000, 16m.
From Port Louis, Mauritius to Cape Town or Richards Bay, South Africa.
July 2018 to November 2018.
We are sailing around the world but recently decided to take on one extra crew member for the Mauritius to Cape Town leg of our journey. This will include sailing the up-coming legs from Mauritius (1/7/18) or Reunion (10/7/18) up around the top of Madagascar (to NoseyBe) (anchored there from 1st till approx 22nd August 2018) and then down the Mozambique channel to South Africa, either to just Richards Bay (approx 8/9/18), or all the way on to Cape Town, by (1/11/18)? OK, so what do you need to do this? 1) Firstly you need to be physically fit, and particularly know that you do not suffer overly from sea sickness. This is because this is going to include some pretty rough ocean crossings, and we can expect 50kts at times, and huge crashing waves etc.... and it won't be possible for us to turn around to take you back if you change your mind out there...plus there are no medical facilities out in the ocean. 2) You will need time....... a lot of it! The dates above are rough estimates only, and we never put our lives or boat at risk to meet any flight schedules.....You would certainly need to be prepared to take 3 months off work... ie. 1 July - 30 September 2018! 3) You need enough money.... all crew contribute $35US per day, or $US1,000 per month, which ever is the cheaper. This covers all your on-board living expenses, your contributions to shared boat costs like insurance, fuel, marina fees, repairs, maintenance etc etc. This is a luxury 53ft boat, with push button sailing etc , so costs significantly more to run that most other cruising boats, but is also one of the safest and more comfortable world cruising yachts out there... . 4) We will teach you pretty much a lot about sailing, so you do not need to be an expert, with lots of qualifications and experience off-shore, however, persons with experience would have an added advantage for sure..but mainly we are considering your fit in our group... 5) You need a valid passport, with at least 6 months validity past 30th September 2018, from a country who's citizens are allowed into Mauritius, Reunion, Madagascar and South Africa without any special, difficult to obtain, visa requirements. 6) Most important of all.!!!.... you need to be someone who is easy to get along with, and who likes people, and who is easy going etc.. Although this is a large cruising yacht, it is still a small space, and all the current crew are really enjoying each other's company .. and are headed all the way to the Caribbean together. For this reason, as before, we will jointly interview those shortlisted, to be sure we have the very best fit, and that you are happy and comfortable to sail with us, and visa versa. Right, that's about it. If you feel that this is something you may want to do, and you think you fit the above general criteria, and would like to sail with us (exact same boat as svdelos.com) to some of the most exotic destinations in the beautiful Indian Ocean, then let me know here or write to [email protected] asap. Please note, we will soon be headed off the grid, to Chagos next, so will have no comms at all after 15th April, and until we get to Rodrigues on approx 25th May 2018...so get in early if interested, or it will be a while before we can respond..
