This trip is an adventure holiday aboard a commercial charter yacht with professional skipper and mate. We start from the picturesque town of Oban. Our first day we head northwards through the sound of Mull and anchor for the night. On our second day we work out the tides, look at the weather and sail further north, inside or outside Skye (tide dependent). We may choose to stop in another sheltered anchorage, or keep going overnight to get more miles under our belt. Once past Cape Wrath, we can go west or east of Shetland (the straight line goes right through the middle!) and after checking the weather we can choose to stop or carry on! Leaving the Shetlands behind us we continue north eastwards towards the Norwegian coastline, and have a variety of options of which route to take amongst the islands. Once between the islands there are numerous choices of tiny fishing villages or isolated anchorages to stop at – some that we know from previously or we may decide to choose something new. However the route plans out you will gain miles for your log book and experience taking part in a watch system. As we head north the days will get longer, and once past the Shetlands it will not go dark at all. You will get to feel the wind in your hair and the power of the sea as you take the helm across the ocean. En route we are happy to teach the wonders of navigating by the stars, use of a sextant and how the GPS works!. This trip will be at least 1000 miles of proper ocean sailing. It can be cold and rough, but also calm and sunny. There are some ports of refuge if needed along the way and we do have time to explore ashore once we arrive in Norway.
