Velvet Adventure Sailing wants 3 crew for Velvet Lady, Oyster 55, 17m.

From Oban, United Kingdom to Bodo, Norway.

May 2017 to June 2017.

1000 miles of proper ocean sailing as we sail north from Scotland and cross the Arctic Ocean heading for northern Norway. On this trip there are some ports of refuge and time to explore ashore - but still plenty of adventurous sailing for the hardy sailor. Because of the weather each trip is different. In 2014 and 2015 we have left Dunstaffnage marina in Oban and headed north, passing the Shetland Islands to starboard before crossing across to the Norwegian coastline. In 2016 we stopped in the Shetlands to avoid the bad weather. Once north of the Shetland Islands we will be sailing in 24 hour daylight. As we approach Norway, majestic mountains rise from the sea and as we get closer the many islands that protect the coastline start to appear. We enter the inner sound and sail the last 200 miles in sheltered water.

Crew roles: You will gain miles for your log book and experience taking part in a watch system. You will find out about on board maintenance schedules, long distance catering, weather forecasting etc. We are happy to teach the wonders of navigating by the stars, use of a sextant and how the GPS works!.
