[ Archived ] ARC 2016. Sail in style and luxury Canary Islands to Saint Lucia ref 6881
Will Downing wants 6 crew for Ximera, Hanse 575, 17m.
From Las Palmas, Canary Islands to Rodney Bay , Saint Lucia.
November 2016 to December 2016.
Ximera, a Hanse 575, is looking for between 4 and 6 crew for the ARC 2016 from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Canaries to Rodney Bay, St Lucia November 2016 to December 2016. Ximera already has two Atlantic crossings in her log books; one in December 2015; and the return in May/June 2016. The latter as part of ARC Europe. The skipper and first mate are an excellent team committed to the ongoing success and care of the yacht. She is very well equipped boasting a watermaker, Iridium SatCom system, solar panels, a good galley with microwave, generator, great autopilot, 40” flat screen TV, a great sound system, large cockpit, washing machine, fans in all bunks, spacious double fridge and separate freezer … PLUS a Williams Jet Turbo in the garage and a massive 100 square metre gennaker with pole which is perfect for downwind sailing. She is also fully coded for safety and the skipper and first mate are both YachtMaster Offshore Commercially Endorsed Cruising Instructors who put crew and boat safety at the top of their lists. Her accommodation comprises one double owner’s cabin, two stern doubles, a 2x bunkroom and the saloon can be converted into the largest double bed ever! Two showers and two heads. Ximera is currently in Mallorca enjoying a busy charter season and will sail to Lagos at the end of September for a well-earned rest and a month of TLC. Then in late October/early November she will sail to Las Palmas for final touches and a good clean. And that’s where YOU come in … a chance to ‘cross the pond’ in comfort. You will be a very active part of the team taking your turn on watches, cooking meals, cleaning and being involved in the general day to day running of the boat. If this isn’t enough there are other details that make Ximera a great choice … - We like to eat good food. Whilst we keep a stock of some frozen (handmade) sauces in case of bad weather, all of our meals are cooked from fresh, occasionally including fresh fish when the hook and lure are successful. We do not have a cupboard full of Frey Bentos pies and tins of baked beans. - We actively encourage learning the constellations, new knots and ingenious ways of passing the time. - Each day we post a blog to the ARC website with a photo so if you have a penchant for photography or are a dab hand at writing then these are extra attributes you can bring to the party Smoking on board: smoking allowed Total people on board: 6 to 8 Crew roles: All the people share all the duties on a rotational basis. Standing watch, cooking, cleaning, maintenance etc. The skipper and first mate are very adept at working out strengths and weaknesses (unless you just want to be up front about it!?) and will try to work the duties around them. Money: each place is £4,000 that includes entry into the ARC, your crew fee and all onboard expenses (food, fuel, mooring fees, gas, customs fees). It doesn’t include your flights, personal insurance, visas or any onshore food or drinks other than those provided by the ARC. For further information about the ARC please visit their website https://www.worldcruising.com Let’s swap a couple of emails and then have a chat on Skype.
