[ Archived ] 10 day St Kilda Cruise in August United Kingdom to United Kingdom ref 6773
Cruise Ecosse Ltd wants 3 crew for Aislig Bheag, Jeanneau Trinidad, 15m.
From Tobermory, United Kingdom to Tobermory, United Kingdom.
August 2016 to August 2016.
I have 3 spaces available on our August cruise to St Kilda on 5 - 15th August. This is a fully catered cruise at a cost of £790 which is a significant saving from the web price. The islands of St. Kilda are the most spectacular of all Britain’s offshore islands. Hirta, boasts the highest cliffs and the largest colony of fulmars in Britain. The neighbouring island of Boreray and her two rocks of Stac Lee and Stac an Armin are the breeding grounds of the world’s largest colony of gannets. The little archipelago, in fact, is a land of superlatives and as such has always fascinated minds since Victorean times. The greatest fascination is that for two thousand years man live upon St Kilda leading a unique and unchanging way of life remote from the mainland. They eventually came under pressure from outside influences and were persuaded to evacuate in 1930, where they unwittingly threw themselves into the 20th century. St Kilda is now a world heritage site and the National Trust for Scotland have restored some of the dwellings providing a fascinating insight into the life of the St. Kildans. We will sail from Tobermory to the Outer Hebrides and if the weather is favourable we will push on the following day to St Kilda. If the weather is not right we will cruise the Western Isles waiting for at least a 3 day window to head out to St Kilda. The first day will be a sail to Village Bay at Hirta where the following day we will go ashore and explore the island. The third day we will cruise around Hirta, Boreray and the Stacs before heading back to the Western Isles (probably the Sound of Harris). We will probably visit Barra, North Uist, Canna and Skye, but we may also visit many other islands. Please get back to me as soon as possible to guarantee a berth.
