[ Cancelled ] South Pacific Odyssey Leg 9 Tonga to Fiji ref 3651

Dan Bower wants 6 crew for Skyelark of London, Skye 51, 16m.

From Vavau, Tonga to Savusavu, Fiji.

August 2016 to September 2016.

For this leg of our Pacific journey, the main emphasis is on island hopping starting off by sailing down through Tonga before moving on to explore Fiji. The Tongan archipelago stretches in a line more or less north to south over a distance of 500 miles. There are over 170 islands with around 50 inhabited. The Ha’apai group is well known for being the most beautiful part of Tonga. It is also where Captain Bligh and some of his crew were put in a gig by the mutineers on The Bounty in 1789 and where Captain Cook came very close to being killed. Despite this he nicknamed them the Friendly Isles! There are caves to investigate by dinghy, some great snorkelling, good cycling and kayaking opportunites as well as the ultimate experience of swimming with whales! - (Watch it here). We will then move on to Fiji, a friendly and beautiful country. We will concentrate on the Lau Group which has only recently been open to yachts. Formally part of Tonga they have remained separated from foreign influence. The Lau group has maintained its cultural traditions and lifestyles and is known as one of the most beautiful parts of Fiji. Following on from Lau we move on to Taveuni which has spectular coastal walks, pretty waterfalls and amazing diving opportunities. This leg will finish at Savusavu on the main island of Vanua Levu. £3400 Please email us for more information. http://skye51.com
