[ Archived ] Crews wanted from Philippines to Fiji Philippines to Fiji ref 3619

Francis Maube wants 3 crew for Charisma, Vagabond 47, 14m.

From Davao, Philippines to Suva, Fiji.

April 2015 to January 2016.

I am now fully crewed up till end of August 2015. There will then be 1 berth available from Pohnpei, Micronesia for the remainder of the trip to Fiji, via Marshall islands, Kiribati and possibly Wallis and Futuna. If interested, please read below. The plan is to leave Davao, Mindanao Island around 1st of April 2015. It will take about 4 to 6 days to cover the 650 NM to Palau, then sail, dive and explore around that beautiful group of island till end of May. The next stop will Yap, only 300 NM away. The stay will probably be around till end of June. We’ll keep sailing east to Chuuk, Pohnpei, and some of the atolls in between. A little further East lay the Marshall Islands that well deserve a close look. By then it will be time to point the bow southward as the dominant winds will blow from the East and sail through Kiribati to Fiji to be reached by January 2016 where the journey will end as I’ll leave the boat there for a few months while travelling in Europe before sailing again probably to New Zealand. Throughout the sailing trip there will be plenty of relaxing in pristine anchorage, swimming snorkeling, scuba diving on reefs and WWII wrecks, exploring ashore, meeting the local, in short enjoying the last remaining frontier of freedom. Please feel free to ask questions as covering every aspect of life on board would take a few more pages.

What roles/experience are needed (Crew 1): Watch-leader

What roles/experience are needed (Crew 2): does not matter

What roles/experience are needed (Crew 3): does not matter

Sailing with a Rally: Independent

I'm looking for (gender): either

Cabins/Sleeping : shared cabin-own bunk

Smoking on board: smoking allowed

Total people on board: 4

Crew roles: Experience is a great thing, so competent crews will have an edge. Having said that I value willingness to learn and to participate which does not mean no experience at all. A little previous exposure to sea, ability not to get sea sick at the first wave and an open mind will do just fine. Crews are expected to perform the following duties: • Help sailing the boat in any way required, I will of course coach to the best of my ability and there is no such thing as a stupid question. • Hold watch day or night, again with adequate coaching and instructions. • Share the cooking and dishwashing. • Help keeping the boat clean and clutter free. • Help with provisioning and fuel taking, which means physical handling. • A good sense of humor is always welcome. Potential crew who do not feel up to any of the tasks above, please point it out when applying. Crews can join for part of the journey or longer. Illegal drugs are of course prohibited on board, that could land me into a lot of trouble. Cost sharing: I do not run a commercial venture so I am not looking for profit, at the same time I do not want to be out of pocket. I take care of all the provisioning, repair, maintenance, all cost directly related to the boat such mooring fees, port dues, berthing and fuel expenses. The share for a crew depends of the country cost of living, at the moment, in Asia it works out at 25 Euros per day per person with an additional 10 Euros per dive for tanks and weight. Should the crew wish to use my spare set that would be another 5 Euros per dive, bear in mind size for wet suit and fins. That will cover, (healthy, quality, fresh) food, drinking and general use fresh water that has to be produced with the generator and water maker, soft drinks/juice, extra wear and tear, berthing, bedding, access to onboard pharmacy in case of need, foul weather gears and so on. The crews remain solely responsible for cost of visa, park fees when and if applicable, and travel to and from place of boarding and leaving the boat and well as food and drinks consumed onshore. Alcoholic drinks are OK on board; the crews are advised to make provision accordingly.

Money: daily contribution from crew $25

Travel to and from boat: crew pays
