[ active ] Jamestown, RI to Hampton, VA United States to United States ref 16077
From Jamestown, RI, United States to Hampton, VA, United States.
to .
I'm looking for one or two more crew to help get Sisu from Jamestown, RI to Hampton, VA in time for the Salty Dawg Rally to Antigua (I'm fully crewed for that leg at the moment). I'd like to leave Jamestown on Oct 23 or 24 and plan to sail straight down the coast to VA,which is about 340 nm, or two and half days of continuous sailing. If the weather is unsettled we might do sections of the inside waterway (eg sail down Long Island Sound or possibly duck in around Cape May and sail up the Delaware River, although that adds a lot of miles). At the moment we are three experienced sailors and I'd like to have five on board to facilitate double watches. We don't smoke but should be able to accomodate smoking on deck.
What roles/experience are needed (Crew 1): Watch-leader
What roles/experience are needed (Crew 2): Watch-leader
Sailing with a Rally: Independent
I'm looking for (gender): either
Cabins/Sleeping : shared cabin-own bunk
Smoking on board: smoking allowed
Total people on board: four or five
Crew roles: I'm looking for someone who is comfortable driving the boat, using the plotter and autopilot, trimming sails and putting in a reef. With five people on board you wouldn't be expected to do solo night watches, but you would be expected take a turn with a watch partner. Good food is an important part of the experience and everyone is expected to help cook and clean, recognizing that some people are better at one or the other. You would probably get your own bunk in the saloon or shared double cabin, but if the seas are rough we might hot bunk because the forepeak can get a bit bouncy.
Money: captain pays all expenses
Travel to and from boat: crew pays
