Description

The Story of a Historic Sailing Yacht Built in 1936 to the designs of Flensburg naval architect Henry Gruber, Peter von Seestermühe (then Peter von Danzig) was created in the style of the great American ocean racers of her era. For many years, the classic yawl served as the flagship of the Academic Sailing Association (ASV) in Kiel, where generations of young sailors received their first true seamanship training aboard this remarkable steel yacht. Over the decades, she crossed the Atlantic more than forty times, rounded Cape Horn, and completed voyages around the world — a legacy few classic yachts can claim. In 1991, the yacht was acquired and lovingly restored by her current owner, Christoph von Reibnitz, bringing her back to life with great care and respect for her heritage. Since then, she has once again sailed in traditional elegance under the name Peter von Seestermühe, continuing her extraordinary story at sea.
