From Aalesund, Norway to Rodney Bay, Saint Vincent & the Grenadines.
July 2026 to December 2026.
Hi sailors, adventurers and good humans, I’m Are from Ålesund, Norway, preparing s/y Zephyr II for ARC 2026 and an Atlantic crossing from Gran Canaria to the Caribbean. I’m looking for the right people to join for different legs of the journey south through Europe — and possibly for the ARC crossing itself. This is not a luxury charter and not a “TikTok sailing holiday”. The goal is proper seamanship, good company, shared adventure and experiencing offshore life for real. ⸻ THE BOAT Zephyr II is a Bavaria 46 Cruiser (2004), set up for comfortable offshore cruising and long-term liveaboard life. Equipment onboard includes: • AIS transceiver • Radar • EPIRB • Satellite phone • Starlink • Solar power • Hydrogenerator • Watermaker • Offshore safety gear • New liferaft (2025) • New dinghy and outboard (2025) • Autopilot • Large fridge/freezer setup • Hot shower and 3 comfortable cabins For offshore passages: • PLB provided for crew standing night watches • Jacklines and harness routines onboard • Safety-first mindset without turning the boat into a military operation ⸻ ABOUT US I’m 50 years old, been around motorboats my whole life but still relatively new to offshore sailing myself. About 1500 logged miles so I’m not pretending to be some all-knowing captain or sailing guru. Because of that, I’m especially interested in finding crew with real offshore or passagemaking experience — people who are calm, practical and comfortable at sea. That said, this is a private sailing project and not a commercial operation or paid crew position. Good seamanship, common sense and the right attitude matter far more to me than titles and certificates alone. Also onboard is Fram — a young Rhodesian Ridgeback and full-time boat dog. He’s well trained, kind, social and very much part of the crew, so anyone joining should genuinely like dogs. The atmosphere onboard is relaxed and straightforward. Good energy and common sense matter more to me than sailing ego. ⸻ THE PLAN Planned departure: End of June / beginning of July 2026 Current route idea: Ålesund → Stavanger → Amsterdam → Brest → La Coruña → Madeira → Las Palmas (ARC start) → Caribbean The boat will join ARC 2026 from Gran Canaria. Except the first stretch (Norwegian coastline) most legs will involve overnight passages and proper offshore watches. Weather, safety and crew wellbeing always decide the pace. Further Caribbean cruising after the ARC is possible depending on timing and crew dynamics. ⸻ LIFE ONBOARD This is shared-life sailing — not “captain and passengers”. Everyone helps with: • Watches • Cooking • Cleaning • Mooring and anchoring • General daily routines onboard No drugs onboard. Zero alcohol while underway. Moderate alcohol in harbor is fine. Norwegian, English, Spanish spoken. ⸻ INSURANCE / SAFETY Zephyr II is privately insured for offshore cruising, including regatta participation and the ARC route via the Atlantic islands. The vessel carries offshore safety equipment and is operated as a private sailing project — not a commercial charter. ARC registration and boat entry fees are covered by me. Crew are expected to carry their own valid: • Travel insurance • Health/medical insurance • Personal belongings insurance if desired Offshore sailing always involves real risk, and everyone onboard is expected to contribute to safe seamanship, good judgment and responsible behavior. ⸻ COSTS This is not a commercial setup or paid position. Boat expenses, maintenance and safety equipment are covered by me. Crew normally share: Food • Personal expenses ashore • Flights to/from the boat • Occasional marina/fuel costs when relevant I’m simply looking for the right people to share a proper offshore adventure with. ⸻ If this sounds like your kind of trip, send me a message with: • Age • Nationality • Sailing experience • A little about yourself • Which legs or timeframe interest you Fair winds, Are Eide s/y Zephyr II Ålesund, Norway
