DescriptionLowestoft UK to Horta, Azores May-June 2026 Looking for an accomplished sailor knowledgeable about all things sailing including, sails, engine, chart plotter, lines, docking, planning, weather, tides, radar and creating routes. Ocean experience is not necessary but you will be expected to feel confident and comfortable about all duties onboard to join us as our third crew member. You'll have your own bunk in the cabin, a cubby for your stuff. You pay to get to and from the boat and will be expected to pay for a third of the costs. Since this is an open ocean voyage, expenses will be low since we are not staying in a lot of marinas. US S/V Clio is a well-equipped, ocean-capable, full-keel, three-man cutter rigged sailboat. Rebuilt over 7 years on Lake Erie then sailed to Kotka, Finland. Now bringing her to the Chesapeake. Next voyage is May 1st to mid June 2026 voyaging from Lowestoft, UK to Horta, Faial, Azores. We will meet in Lowestoft May 1st and spend the week getting her ready. We’ll set off in a good weather window in hopes of making it to Dartmouth to refuel and restock for the 1,200 nm to the Azores. As soon as we land in the Azores you can leave. The three man crew will be the owner Willard, Captain Tom Lohre and possibly you. |

He entertains the crew with the history of the world Clio sails through. The captain, Tom Lohre, is a life long boater, starting on the Ohio River and ended up crossing oceans 4 times to train and then as captain on the voyage to Russia. We never made it to Saint Petersburg due to the war but landed within 30 miles of the Russian border. Tom is also an excellent fine artist. Painting portraits and scenes. |
