[ active ] From Martinique to Portugal via the Azores Martinique to Portugal ref 15309

Markus Renlund wants 4 crew for Another Brick, First 44.7, m.

From Fort-de-France, Martinique to Lagos, Portugal.

April 2025 to May 2025.

We’ll start from Martinique on April 23rd, setting course for the Azores. We’ll spend a few days exploring the islands, and then we’ll continue to Lagos, Portugal. This will be our 10th crossing, 5th from west to east. Starting from Fort-de-France, we will most likely take the traditional course north, passing on the northern side of the Azores High and catching the “westerly trades” between the high and the lows of the north Atlantic. This would give us mostly westerly following winds, but as always, the weather for the return trip is very hard to predict, so it is likely that we’ll get quite varying conditions. We estimate the trip to the Azores to take less than three weeks, arriving aroun May 12th, and then we’ll spend a few days on Faial, including visiting the legendary Peter Café Sport. Around May 17th, we set sails towards Lagos, Portugal, and we expect the trip to take around a week, arriving around May 25th. Depending on the forecast, we might also visit Angro do Heroissimo on Terceira, another one of the islands in the Azores. On the way, we are likely to encounter Dolphins, Portuguese Men-o-War, as well as Whales. This is a truly memorable adventure, and sailing wise far more interesting and variable than going east to west with the trade winds. The fee includes all safety equipment, bedding and towels, food on board, professional captain and hostess, as well as all running costs for the yacht.
