[ active ] Refit Planning and Execution – Off-season Distance Learning Opportunity United States to United States ref 15178
From Herrington Harbour North Marina, United States to Herrington Harbour North Marina, United States.
January 2025 to January 2025.
***A Non-voyage distance learning opportunity*** Planning and executing a partial refit of Matana's systems and repair/replacing deck hardware and cabin details to prepare for more Atlantic Ocean voyages. Listing this opportunity as a learning and planning experience, sharing the different stages of a refit. In addition to sharing the process and information, the Skipper is interested in recommendations and input based on crew experiences. Participating in this project enables familiarization with the boat and skipper, and will likely lead to crew opportunities on passage/voyages in 2026. This is the second sailboat the skipper has refit, and this is a partial refit of critical systems. Participation by email, chat, video, or phone. Topics will include U.S.-ABYC 12v DC circuits, AC circuits, standing and running rigging and deck hardware, portlight and thru-hulls, plumbing, and the major components and improvements upon the auxiliary diesel, all with the focus on simplicity, redundancy, maintainability, and reliability.
