[ Cancelled ] Sea of Cortez to Seattle via Hawaii Mexico to United States ref 15176
From San Carlos, Mexico to Seattle, United States.
April 2025 to July 2025.
I plan to leave San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico in mid-April bound for Hawaii with myself and 2 crew members on board. After re-provisioning in Hawaii, probably Kauai, we will sail north to the latitude of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, and then east to the Strait. I have done this route once before - the best sailing of my life - as well as cruising both coasts of North America, a passage through the Caribbean, the Panama Canal, and north to Puerto Vallarta. I have one crew member lined up for this voyage, but would like a second person, experienced in offshore sailing. The boat is a 36-foot composite dory-style hull with a junk schooner rig (a sister ship to Badger, Annie Hill's boat featured in her book Voyaging on a Small Income). The boat is well equipped - see the description of Etoile du Sud on this website. I pay on-board expenses as well as anything the boat requires; you pay transportation to/from the boat and any expenses onshore. Regular watches covering 8 hours per day are required; with just 3 crew, all watches are solo - 2 hours in the night and 6 hours more after at least 6 off. No alcohol or recreational drug use while we are underway, and no smokers please
What roles/experience are needed (Crew 1): Watch-leader
Sailing with a Rally: Independent
I'm looking for (gender): either
Cabins/Sleeping : shared cabin-own bunk
Smoking on board: non-smokers only
Total people on board: 3
Crew roles: Any gender - see requirements above. Genial personalities and willingness to tackle whatever needs to be done. Experience with mechanical/electrical/plumbing repairs would be a plus, should we encounter problems requiring maintenance. Interest in learning about junk sailing technique essential.
Money: captain pays all expenses
Travel to and from boat: crew pays
