Nigel Fox wants 1 crew for Bison, Duncanson, m.
From Darwin, Australia to no idea, Thailand.
to .
I am looking for a crew member Departing Darwin October 2019 for Timor then Indonesia for an extended period I have sailed Solo from Geelong in Victoria and much as I love the cat her cooking and conversational abilities are a bit limited. Crew to pay own visa's and share food costs, Fuel would be nice but like repairs it's my yacht so my outlay... As for the yacht it's totally up to date on electronics, chart plotter Radar, A.I.S., Switlik OPR raft, Hydrovane wind vane, water maker Lithium batteries, latest Victron battery management system. Fridge and a small freezer etc. As it's a Duncanson 34 space is limited so my first preference is for a female crew member (Smaller, so less weight, eat less, probably/ hopefully a more imaginative cook than me) 2 burner stove with oven, grill and pressure cooker to help minimise gas useage but weight / trim is always my main thought. make sure you bring your own up to date life jacket and wet weather jacket at least. We can discuss Your own personal PLB and M.O.B. unit. As for me I don't take any stupid risks as I love telling a good story about those times when shit breaks at 3am, why do things break at night, never in the daylight hours? Now the worst thing about me is I still smoke and yes I know I should quit but that is my only bad habit. I do not smoke inside only ever outside. I do take safety seriously and man over board drills can be practiced when out at sea. There is a very well stocked bar which is only accessed when on the hook or in a marina apart from then the boat is a dry boat but tea and coffee can be consumed 24/7. Bring your own chocolate though and hide it. I love chocolate. New tender and outboard are being picked up in Darwin. Cheers Nige.
What roles/experience are needed (Crew 1): does not matter
Sailing with a Rally: Independent
I'm looking for (gender): female
Cabins/Sleeping : own cabin-own bunk
Smoking on board: smoking allowed
Total people on board: 2
Crew roles: If I can find a smaller (petite) female crew member as it's only a 34 ft yacht so space is limited that would be ideal. Sorry to all you two meter plus guys but you would keep bumping your head and weight can change the performance of the yacht, even I move to different parts of the yacht in certain sail configurations to help trim / performance. Some sailing experience would be really good, if you can read a chart plotter work out currents from land shapes see if the yacht is being dragged across in a crab like fashion and adjust course accordingly then all well and good. you will be taken through all the intricacies of the hydrovane as it's the man rudder when used out there putting the miles down. The yacht was a racing yacht in a previous life so the rig reflects that. So lots to learn. Accommodation.. store your stuff in the v-berth use the mid ships sofa with lee cloth it's a far nicer place to sleep or crawl in to the quarter berth.
Money: daily contribution from crew $5
Travel to and from boat: negotiable
