From Cork, Ireland to portosin, Galicia, Spain.

July 2019 to December 2019.

Will sail on September 7th from Cork, Ireland to Portosin, in Galicia Spain It is a 600 miles crossing of the Bay of Viscay in early September. As compared with the "normal" crossing coming from the English Channel it is more North South, thus better oriented vis a vis the prevailing South Westerlies. The timing is still good as the weather becomes nasty there mid October. Notwithstanding this we will have to wait for a favorable weather window if we see a low coming our way. We will be a crew of three or four, including myself as captain and owner. Shaima averages 175 miles a day, so we should be in less than four days.

Crew roles: I think the main condition is that the crew member enjoy the experience of ocean passage making, for whicever reason, being the achievement, the learning experience, the camaraderie, the pleasure of being under sail etc. A reasonable sailing experience is paramount, and self confidence to be able to be watch leader. I will give a short course on boat handling, sail handling, and safety.
