[ Archived ] Cruise to the land of the midnight sun Sweden to Sweden ref 10784
Hans Hansell wants 1 crew for Working on a Dream, Sun Odyssey 49, 15m.
From Stockholm, Sweden to stockholm, Sweden.
July 2019 to August 2019.
The cruise takes place in Baltic Sea and Gulf of Bothnia. The itinerary includes Sweden, Estonia, Finland and again Sweden and covers approximately 1.400 nautical miles. The theme is to explore hidden gems and we will not go to the touristic places but in a leisurely fashion explore natural world heritage sites and experience local culture through visiting historically interesting places. The cruise starts in Nynäshamn, south of Stockholm, Sweden 8 July and goes via Gotska Sandön to the back side (east) of Gotland. We check the seal sanctuary and the homestead of the pirate Gottberg on Gotska Sandön. On Gotland we will explore a huge iron age Viking fortress. Cross the Baltic to the Gulf of Riga. We explore the Estonian islands and visit a medieval bishop castle, one of the world’s oldest in operation lighthouses (since 1537). Cross Gulf of Finland to Turku (Åbo). After sailing through the Sea of skerries we arrive in Turku and its medieval castle. Following Turku , we hop over the South Gulf of Bothnia to the archipelago Kvarken, a natural heritage on UNESCO´s World Natural Heritage site, and the regional centre Waasa. Next, we cross the northern part of the Gulf of Bothnia to Kemi (Finland) and or Luleå (Sweden). From Luleå we cruise slowly south along the Swedish east coast to Stockholm visiting picturesque fishing villages and small towns.
