[ closed ] USVI to Northern Europa Virgin Islands - US to United Kingdom ref 10721

From St Thomas, Virgin Islands - US to southampton, United Kingdom.

Made another opportunity that disappeared so I try again. So far I have been sailing with family and friends and will continue to do so here in Carribean until I am heading back to Europe in the second half of April. For the overseas journey I am uncertain whether I will have enough crew I know so now I contact this page to get some in addition. In total I plan to be 4 crew including myself. Fryd is a very well equipped "go anywhere" boat that sails well. We did the ARC in 18 days 2850 miles and then we sailed conservatively reefed during the night etc. The most important thing I am looking for is your social skills and your reliability and commitment. I have sailed my own boats for 40 years and also attended som other. I am also a skilled technician and I know my boat very well so I do not need any particuar skills. Having said that at least one other crew should be quite experienced to unload some of the pressure on me. The boat will continue to The Netherlands but I assume Southampton will be the first port of call after Azores. You can jump off where you like.

Crew roles: So far I have been sailing with friends and family so taking on stranger is a ig step for me. As written above, I am looking for people that is easy going and can take their watches, doing what they are asked to do and fit in socially. I am an easy going person myself and not very picky. Think there are different ways to do things, but it is important you can take an order if things get tight. It is also important that you understand what ocean sailing means. Fryd is a very stabile boat but ocean sailing can still be quite uncomfortable as all been out there know and it is no place to jump off if this proves to be someting else than you expected. I am a non-smoker myself, but I think it is not a big problem if you smoke in the cockpit. I will cover all expences on the boat and I normally have asked crew to share the provision we by in, but it is not a bid thing because we have a lot onboard already. You will need to pay your own travel. The boat has 3 cabins so with 4 guys, either 2 will have to share or the 4th take the sofa in the main cabin. On this kind of sailing my experience is that this is a very small problem since we will go watches and probably use the bad most comfortable on the conditions. It is important that we sleep well and eat well to make this a pleasant journey.
Money: captain pays all expenses
Travel to and from boat: crew pays
