Normal foul weather attire, Tom always has his straw hat held tightly by a slip knot even with a rain hood. It keeps the rain hood from moving around. The hat works like cats whiskers and keeps him from getting into places he cannot get out of. Tom is an old river rat whose first job was on a converted Ohio River towboat turned into a restaurant. He went on to become a rigger on a river salvage operation. His father introduced the family to houseboats and they navigated up and down the Ohio at least three times. Later helping him sailed his Morgan 36' from Miami to Lake Erie. Years later while living for twenty years in NYC, he sailed out of East Hampton for ten years culminating with helping the captain sail his refurbished 1980 Pearson 36' to Baltimore, Ireland. Upcoming voyages on a restored 32' Bayfield that he is the chief engineer and captain on. 2022 July 10 to August 10: Great Lakes 24/7 2600nm 2023 May 15 to August 15: Lake Erie to Russia 4143nm 2024 July to August: Finland to Falmouth, England 1330nm 2025 June to July: Falmouth, England to Lake Erie 3718nm
