Hi, always looking for the next adventure! I am Thomas, in daily life a 27 year-old project manager in civil engineering projects. Still learning the trade, but I am eager to know everything there is to making our physical world work. I am keen on learning a lot of things, engineering, space flight, astronomy, philosophy, wood working, general construction skills, drawing and much more. Among these is crossing the oceans. Sailing has been a passion since going to summer camps as a kid. At the sailing camps I did different small boats (one-person, two-person, katamaran, windsurf). In addition to the summer camps, I grew up lakeside where we had a little outboard dinghy and a two-person sailboat with my brothers. Like many fish, my passion shifted from fresh water to the seas. In 2016, I started being a skipper on a 40 feet charter boat, and I was sold. Since then I organised multiple trips myself and joined crews on others. Also, I joined a student sailing club in 2020 and since 2022 the royal dutch yacht club in Muiden. Some remarkable trips have been: sailing a month on the Banda and Timor seas starting in Indonesia and ending up in Darwin, Australia, and organising a flotilla of 4 yachts and 28 friends to reach the Stromboli Vulcano, Italy. In all of my voyages I experienced one thing: you never know beforehand what you will learn this time. You think you will learn about over night watchkeeping? Turns out it was mainly a lesson in pumps and tanks for the domestic system and even more fun.... cooling systems of the diesel engine. So the philosophy is: you do not know everything and you better be ready to learn something unexpected. I might make my application as a duo. My girlfriend (28) has a bit less sailing and technical experience but she is Italian (think about the food), medical doctor and so incredibly caring. Must-haves in every voyage! | |

Dietary requirements: | I try to eat more vegetarian, but in an environment of a lot of physical strain meats are a hell of a good way to get fats, proteins and dopamine for morale. |
