I've been sailing for over 30 years, like many I started with dinghies and progressed to bigger things. I used to keep a Westerly GK29 in Portishead for a number of years (tidal range 13m) and enjoyed trips many to Southern Ireland, South Brittany and the South Coast of England. I enjoy all levels of racing and have experience in club level, the JOG series ( full crew and shorthanded) and took part in the 13/14 Clipper Around the World Race completing 3 legs and the Triangle double handed race in 2016. The Clipper experience included watch leading, mothering ( feeding a hungry crew of 20+ usually at an angle) and sail repair and maintenance. I crossed the equator twice and spend 28 days in the Southern Ocean with recorded wind speeds in excess of 80 knots and water temperatures of 5 degrees. More recently I have been the 3rd member of crew (the others being the owner and a professional skipper) for deliveries and cruises on a 62' yacht for passages up to 10 days at a time on which I stood watch alone, provisioned the boat and cooked most meals as well as usual crew duties. Other expeience includes double handing from The Bahamas to Grand Cayman, providing a 3rd pair of hands from Roatan to Florida, crewing from San Blas to Panama City and a number of Biscay crossings. In 2022 I crewed on a 49' yacht with 4 people on board taking part in ARC+ from Lagos to Grenada. I'm a member of Sussex Yacht Club and the RYA. I love sailing, I believe I'm pretty calm, good tempered and easy to get on with . References are available.
