LOOKING FOR ADVENTURE IN 2021!! Fully COVID vaccinated (Pfizer). Since my 'big adventure' in 2015/16, I have been racing with Richmond Yacht Club, NZ on a 10.4 metre cruiser/racer. I also volunteer with both Sailability (giving handicapped people the opportunity to experience the wonderful world of sailing) and Sea Cleaners, an organisation that clears plastic rubbish from Auckland's beaches and mangroves. In August 2016 I arrived back in the UK after nine month's continuous sailing. I departed Gibraltar and sailed to Gran Canaria in November 2015 where I joined a yacht entered in the ARC+ Rally. We sailed Gran Canaria to Cape Verde to St Lucia. In St Lucia I became one of three crew aboard a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 54 which sailed with the World ARC Rally as far as Tahiti. There we left the rally and took the yacht to Kupang, East Timor via Papua New Guinea to join Rally Indonesia. I also competed in the Rolex Fastnet and qualifying ocean races on an IRC1 ocean racer in 2015. Most of my racing experience was gained in New Zealand where we picked up our fair share of silverware down the years. When in the UK, I volunteer with East Anglian Sailing Trust which gives youngsters and mentally & physically handicapped people the opportunity to experience the wonderful hands-on sensation of sailing. I have also been a tai chi instructor. These experiences and previous professional management roles means I don't flap and am a good communicator with people from all sorts of backgrounds. I am patient and have a good sense of humour. I enjoy cooking and judging by the empty plates my crew mates enjoy the food I produce too! I enjoyed taking responsibility for provisioning and shopping and maintaining 'stock lists' - an important role on the longer passages. I have a PLB, ocean rated PFD and 3-point harness, AIS beacon and all the necessary sailing kit. I am keen to complete my circumnavigation so am particularly interested in sailing from NZ/Australia back towards the Atlantic. Happy to supply sailing/personality references from previous owner/skippers upon request. | |
