Spike Reid is an experienced sailor, International Mountain Leader, adventurer, photographer and speaker. He grew up sailing both yachts and dinghies in Plymouth, SW England. Since then he has sailed both long-distance and cruising in the Mediterranean and on the south coast of Britain. With two friends in 2008, Spike Reid won the first Land Rover/RGS-IBG Bursary and spent seven months circumnavigating the globe along the line of 50° North. In January 2017 he completed the first-ever stand-up paddleboard descent of the Ganges. This 98-day journey was undertaken in a bid to raise awareness of the excessive pollution of the river and reduce it, especially single-use plastic. He has also led smaller expeditions and tours to over 30 countries, ranging from steppe to jungle, desert to High Arctic.
