Hi! I'm a 30 years old french currently residing in New Zealand. As I'm planning to leave the country starting from next June, I'm looking for crewing opportunities in the surrounding seas (South Pacific and South Indian) to continue my journey in seeking sea knowledge and experience. Happy to pay travel expenses to and from the boat as well as chip in for food. I'm a strong sea enthusiast and ever since childhood I've always been captivated by this massive amount of spirited water. I started with small boats with my dad (Dart18 cat and RS500 dinghy) to learn the ropes and also did a bit of cruising around my home region, Brittany. Then I fell for surfing and kitesurfing during my studies (I studied naval architecture and material science) and most of my freetime went into them rather that boat time. Hence I didn't spent as much time as wanted on yachts until last year. After travelling New Zealand in 2020, I found a position as a deckhand for a sailing charter during the 36th America's cup and I had the chance to crew on a old ACC80 (NZL68), taking clients out to watch the races. I then kept working on boats, doing odd jobs and deliveries and finally found a boatbuilding position where I'm still working now (we are building a 42-foot full carbon cruising cat). The project is drawing to an end and I'd like to go back to France for a time, sailing if possible! My preferences would be to try and reach Mauritius Island as I have a friend there I would like to visit, but I'm open to any sailing opportunities! Please don't hesitate to contact me or ask questions. May the weather be with you. Simon | |
