Experience: 15000 ocean miles / 10000 coastal miles
Hi, I began crewing professionally out of Antibes in 1976. At the time my father was a partner in a marine engineering firm there and from the age of 13 my school holidays were spent on and around boats on the Côte d’Azur. I feel privileged to have sailed the Med at that time and to have sailed aboard some of the boats that I have. I currently hold a commercially endorsed RYA Yachtmaster Ocean (although a little brushing up on my sextant work might be required…) and am qualified as a Cruising Instructor. I taught Day Skipper and Competent Crew courses out of Gibraltar for the bulk of 2018 and since then I have on a few occasions taught owners aboard their own vessels. During September and October I did a shakedown cruise and then helped deliver a Jeanneau 57 from Alcaidesa Marina in La Linea to Lanzarote. I have crossed the Atlantic twice, once in each direction, and have done a number of Biscay runs over the years. At the moment I am aiming - if possible - to get into the Pacific and if possibly to Maui - without getting on a plane… I will be crossing to Granada in January 2022 and should arrive during the first week of February. I will be available for opportunities in the Caribbean from then on. Best wishes Bill Bond
