I am a 60 year old ex-Naval Officer who is about to retire at the end of December 2022. I have been sailing on and off for most of my life. However, it was only as I drew to the end of my time in the Navy that I undertook a Day Skipper course in 2010, subsequently getting my Coastal Skipper qualification in 2015. Over the past 12 years I have been sailing regularly with my family (wife and 2 girls) including a number of flotilla holidays and bare boat charters in the Eastern Med as well as serving as a Watch Leader on a Challenge 67 for a 2 week sailing leg from Jersey City NJ up through Long Island Sound via Newport RI to Boston Ma. I have much experience of living and working in crowded spaces at sea and am happy undertaking any roles on board. My intention is to buy my own boat during 2023, but I am seeking to gain as much sailing experience as I can when I give up work while searching for the correct yacht (looking to buy a Jeanneau 42DS). In particular I aspire to undertake the ARC in November 2023 and am seeking to meet skippers who are looking for additional crew and to sail with them earlier in 2023 so that we can ensure that we get on well. I am a level headed, pragmatic individual who gets on well with others and enjoys being at sea.
