I am enjoying retired life, counting down the days when my wife also retires (11/22) so we can go cruising. In 2005 I retired from the military after 17 years of service. I began my military career in the navy working with radars and surface navigation. After 9 years of service in the Navy, I enlisted in the Army National Guard as a Combat Medic, earning both my Combat Medic Badge and Army Commendation Medal while serving in Iraq. I’m also a licensed Registered Nurse having worked in both the Emergency Room (ER) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU). These life experiences have taught me how to work as an effective team member in stressful situations. I enjoy all things water; sailing, scuba diving, kayaking, paddle boarding, surfing (not that good but it’s still fun) and fishing. I bought my first boat almost 10 years ago. I completely rebuilt that boat from the hull up so I feel very confident in my ability to work on boats. I am a Master 100 Ton Captain with both Towing and Sailing Endorsements. This past summer I crewed on a Farr 53 in the Chicago to Mackinac And Port Huron to Mackinac Races with Warrior Sailing. I helped with sail changes, grinding, trimming, sitting on the rail and cooking. Having never participated in a sailboat race I can say this was life-changing and have been racing each week since August on a Hunter 34. I’m married to an incredible wife who enjoys the water as much as I do. I’m also a father to four awesome kids! I look forward to being a crew member and gaining valuable experience while doing something I love! | |
