Hello, my name is Mike. I came to sailing by accident but love it. Even though I have little experience I‘m not concerned as I adapt easily to any team and am confident in leading one. I look for experienced sailers who enjoy sharing their knowledge with their mates, are not afraid to advise, I do not need guests who expect to be skippered. Hence there won‘t be any fee but all mates share in expenses (the yacht itself is insured against third party claims as well as damages to the ship itself). I am an experienced navigator, but am just beginning to learn how to use a sextant. I can hand, reeve and steer, splice and knot. I am on good terms with any technical part be it electric driven, by any hydraulic or simply mechanic. I love the limitless horizon, and on the same hand enjoy good company. I love to learn and listen to a yarn. Our ship will be a Beneteau First 47.7, built in 2005, the commodore owner version with a standard keel but tall mast with a removable stay for the jib. During the last some month it received new batteries, some new wiring, an additional engine driven generator, a (small) solar power panel, a mobile generator, an air compressor for diving activities, a new rigging, provisions for a try sail as well as three additional jibs (heavy weather, gale force, storm). You will find two identical genoas, two mains‘l. The rudder was pulled and the bearings replaced. All safety equipment will be up to date. I shall start in Kiel in late summer 2023 heading for the canaries. In Gran Canaria we shall join the ARC 2023 in November 2023. You are welcome to join for any part or the entire voyage. What I shall do after having explored the West Indies I do not now know. We‘ll see…:-) I am looking forward to hearing from you… Cheers Mike | |
