My Name is Matthias. I am a naval architect and retired surveyor to Lloyd's Register. I started sailing when I was 16 and continued since then on the North Sea, Baltic Sea and Mediterranean Sea. I had several over-night passages, amongst others the trans-Atlantic ARC as watch leader on a Swan 51. From June to August 2022 we were three on a 47 ft. van de Stadt Samoa to North-Norway, Svalbard/Spitzbergen (above 80 deg), Jan Meyen, Iceland and Scotland. In September 2022 I joined three others on a 57 ft boat to sail with the World ARC from Lombok (Indonesia) to Christmas Island, Cocos Islands, Mauritius, Reunion, South Africa, around Cape Aghulas and Cape of Good Hope to Capetown. Too bad, I never had an own boat but luckily I have some friends with boats and I skippered chartered boats a few times in Croatia and the Baltic Sea with other friends. I am healthy and consider myself to be fit for my age. I think I am a good team-player and others say that I am easy to get along with because I am patient and tolerant. But if you are looking for a good cook, you will find a better one. I am good in cook-assistance though and excellent in dish-washing. I am a music lover and have lots on my phone (from ABA to ZZTop and classic). Luckily I have the time and the personal freedom for longer voyages and would like to use both for further extended voyages..
