ABOUT MARCEL Being a New Zealander, I have grown up on the water and have owned small power boats all my adult life. I am relatively new to sailing and am keen to learn from an experienced captain or owner. I hold a Day Skipper (RYA recognised) certificate and have completed both AEC1 and STCW certificates and have a current ENG1. I am currently located in Palma de Mallorca. I am keen to get blue water miles under my belt as my wife and I have a 5 year plan to buy a boat in the Med or Caribbean and cruise across the Pacific to New Zealand. I am a builder by trade that owned and operated a building company for more than 20 years, and am extremely practical and have a very high standard of workmanship and attention to detail. I love water sports and am a qualified PADI Rescue Diver having dived over 1,000 dives. I also love to cook. To a crew position I bring maturity, responsibility, energy, a positive attitude, and a level head. I am self-reliant and good at trouble shooting and thinking on my feet under pressure. My wife, Jen Gibson, crewed on sailing yachts for many years, and I have a number of current and former captains and crew in my friend-group in New Zealand. I am confident that my easy-going, fun-loving, and hard-working attitude will allow me to quickly fit into a new team.
