My name is Louise, I'm 30 and have been sailing since 2015. I started with getting my International Crew Certification and learning to sail. Then purchased a sailing boat with my ex-partner and we became 'live-aboards'. I lived on board for a year and joined the CCCA (Coastal Cruising Club of Australia), then joined the CYCA (Cruising Yacht Club of Australia) in Sydney. I sailed with friends at the CYCA and CCCA for a few years in both cruising and inshore racing. Sailed from Sydney to the Gold Coast and shorthanded for night watch duties while the other sailor slept during shift change. As a racer my position changed depending on how serious the race was... On a serious race day I was in the pit, on more relaxed races I moved between mainsheet and sheet trimmer, and helmsman (or 'helmswoman'). I moved to Canada September 2018, and am crewing with the Vancouver Rowing Club over the Summer when I find time from work in Alberta. Looking at completing the Safety at Sea course over the summer also. I'm currently working in risk management, safety, and accident investigation tasks at a ski hill. In terms of my interests and personality, I'm friendly and love being near the sea (yes i do miss it living in a land-locked state). As a live aboard and sailing up the coast of Australia, it was one of my most vivid, memorable experiences. I am starting a university research project in marine litter, and enjoy diving for seeing the wildlife when i travel to warm climates. I'm a good cook, can sew, likes to paint and enjoy a relaxing glass of wine. Feel like I have to say this just in case, I'm not looking for a relationship, just to sail and enjoy the ocean. Thanks! looking forward to hearing from you. | |
