Looking for: South East Asia & East Asia; South Pacific Islands;
Experience: 9000 ocean miles / 560 coastal miles
My wife Karen and I are looking to join a boat doing World ARC 2024 specifically from Tahiti to Fiji where we are joining the rally on a catamaran as far as Darwin. In June 2023 we had to return to UK from Tahiti because of a family bereavement and and are keen to complete our transpacific crossing. We were part of a crew of 4 on a Lagoon 380 crossing from Trinidad to Tahiti via the Panama Canal, Galapagos, Marquesas and Tuamotos. We carried out all crew duties including watches, cooking and cleaning. We have experience of Polynesian atolls and Pacific navigation - we have back up navionics on my iPad along with Google earth screenshots to help with locating bommies in atolls. I owned and raced dinghies and Dart 18 catamarans during 10 years working in Malawi 1986-96 and rowed the Atlantic as part of the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge in 2019/20. See www.johnmoorhouse.com for an overview of a life of adventures and our current challenges. We are non-smokers, easy-going, fit and adventurous and enjoy being part of a team. We are happy to tackle all aspects of sailing as well as pitch in with the victualling, making bread, cooking and cleaning duties.
