Hello,
58yo who has, until now, been restricted to races and holiday sails. I am now looking to enjoy longer sails. I am an RYA Day Skipper qualified, have hired many boats in my own name and explored much of the Med and most of the Carribean (Bahamas to Grenada) on monohull & cats. I have raced monohull, mainly as crew for family, in the IoW RTI numerous times, various Cowes events and in LA and San Diego where my claim to fame was sailing against Dennis Connor of Stars and Stripes fame - we came last! I have helmed, trimmed and run the bow I am a keen X country runner and keep fit, I have raced and sailed the Scottish Island Peaks race twice where I had the disturbing opportunity to be helming at night with the spinnaker flying and yet still going in reverse - the Scottish tides do make you question your sanity. I am a married father with three sons in their late twenties, I am patient and capable. I have rebuilt a British sports car and am not frightened of taking things apart to try to repair them. I know my way around engines but have not fully dismantled a marine engine. I do not deny that I am still nervous when parking someone elses boat, especially when the harbour wall has a full restaurant watching the process. I can cook and enjoy doing so - whatever the space or ingredients, I have a full UK driving licence and am PADI open water qualified. Keen photographer with a Mavic drone to film along the way. Family (sons too) are happy to give references - give me a call if you'd like to chat. |
