| Hello! My name is Jemma and I am a 21-year old student who is a very keen sailor and looking for the opportunity to gain experience crewing on yachts. I am currently studying History and Spanish at the University of Edinburgh but have decided to take this year (Sept 21 - Sept 22) out from uni. My dad has grown up sailing so in turn, my mum, my three sisters and myself have done too. We have a 36ft hanse kept in Portsmouth Harbour and have spent many weeks onboard exploring the Isle of Wight and the rest of the Solent, whilst also visiting the West Country. We have crossed the Channel many times, visiting Northern France and the Channel Islands. We have also been lucky enough to do several holidays chartering yachts in the Mediterranean, in Greece, Turkey and Croatia. Therefore, I have learned to love sailing and definitely want to pursue it into my adult life. It has always been a dream to cross the Atlantic and I hope to take this year out as an opportunity to do that. | |
